With frequent storms in some areas, cold winds and even early winter in other countries while extreme drought in other locations, everybody seems to be thinking of the same thing that possibly causes all of these: climate change. As the climate and the weather become more and more unpredictable, many home owners turn to some french drain companies to have a french drain constructed within their properties.

Although known as a drainage system used to prevent water in the ground and from the surface to penetrate and damage a building’s foundation, French drains also present certain disadvantages that often cause more than just a headache and a waste of money to many building and home owners. One of the disadvantages of French drains is its being prone to clogging. This will eventually lead to flooded basements. As French drains that are constructed without sump pumps rely only on the gravitational pull of the earth to drain water away from the area, it may not be suitable to have it constructed for houses that are not located in elevated and steep areas. In addition to this, the maintenance French drainages require are often expensive and laborious.

In facing the challenge of frequent flooded basements, it is advisable that you seek other more efficient and less expensive alternatives for French drainage to keep your self from having to undergo the hassles of keeping one.
